Bringing a Boat
We offer boat launch and docking for our overnight accommodation guests. Please see our Fishing and Boating page under things to do for details.
Many of our policies reflect our concern for protecting the environment. We supply quality liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner in wall dispensers which we clean and refill. We recycle. We have eliminated as much as 70 bars of hardly used soap + 70 wrappers + 70 small plastic bottles of shampoo per day. Every room has a hairdryer. We supply in room towels and all bedding, please bring your own beach towel.
Irons are available at the front desk. For groups who take all rooms we set up ironing stations in our spa, Boardroom & Executive suite, appreciated by wedding parties & Christmas parties.
Check In Time:
4:00-10:00 pm. If you wish to make the most of your stay and would like to be guaranteed an early check in we are happy to offer this service for an additional $50 fee. Please note this is an option, you are under no obligation to select early check in and will not be charged this fee unless you request the early check in. To ensure that your room is ready by noon we request 1 weeks notice when possible to help give us time to make the necessary arrangements. For an even earlier check in please check for availability 24 hours before arrival. Please make special arrangements if you require a check in after 10 pm.
Check Out Time:
8:30-11:00 a.m. If you wish to end your holiday with a leisurely check out and a few extra hours use of our facilities please enquire at the front desk 24 hours prior. For an additional $50 we may be able to extend your check out to 3 pm or later.
We are happy to provide a 10% commission on our room rates to travel agents booking for their clients at the Westwind Inn. This applies to regular priced rooms and cannot be combined with any special discount offers. We pay the commission following check out. Please provide us with your IATA number, business name and address for payment at the time of booking.
Treetops Dining room is open to everyone by reservation. Please be sure to call ahead in our off season as we may not be open if we do not have hotel guests on our meal plan. Please see our dining page for sample menus as well as group options.
Dinner $55 & Breakfast $15 + 15% Resort Service Fee ( In lieu of gratuity (no one is paid a servers wage) + 13% HST.
There is no allowance or credit for missed meals.

Keys: Lost Keys. $50 charge for each key not returned. Please remember to turn in your keys.

If you wish to invite a visitor to the inn our Day Guest Fee of $50 per person will apply, permitted 12:00 p.m. noon to 5:00 p.m.
If you wish this day guest to stay for dinner cost is $100 ++ per person & guest must depart by 10:00 p.m. Enquire first. Registered room guest is responsible for payment of day guest.
Every room occupant regardless of age must be registered.
Advance Reservations are required for all day guests.
Please ensure that your visitor registers at the front desk on arrival & again when departing at 5:00 p.m. unless joining us dinner. If staying for dinner a reservation is required and guest must depart by 10:00 p.m.
If you are coming with other couples and wish to socialize you may enjoy our lobby and second floor lounge in addition to our outdoor locations. The dining room can remain open til 11 pm with advance arrangements. Please see our noise restrictions above if you are not taking over the entire inn. We are often able to rent the Executive Suite at $500 per day which is located on the main floor of our Chalet to groups who rent all 4 Chalet units for 2 days. Please check with the office in regards to availability as it is generally reserved for groups of 50 or more.
If you have guests who you wish to invite to visit ouir inn for the day they must register at front desk and a $50 fee will apply. Enquire first.

We are a wifi hotspot with complimentary high speed access for all resort guests. Internet is in our Main lodge lobby, meeting spaces, Deck and Chalet. It reaches most of our guest rooms on a clear day.
There is no allowance or credit for late arrival or early departure on your confirmed date
Treetops dining room is available for groups of 25 or more by advance reservation. Please see our dining page for options. For smaller groups the Gallery on the lake right next door often serves a light lunch, there are many restaurants all around us that are open for lunch in Buckhorn, Lakefield, Bobcaygeon, Burliegh falls, Peterborough.
Noise - Peace and quiet after 11 p.m. please
Unless you are booking the entire inn we ask that you are quiet between 11:00 p.m. & 8:00 a.m. in order to respect the other guests need for a restful sleep. After a long day of fresh air & invigorating sports, a good night sleep is appreciated by our typical guests. This does not mean you cannot have fun and enjoy yourself during the day, just that we are not suitable for night owls or party animals- unless you take over the entire resort and in this case we are a great party place!
Well behaved dogs are welcome in certain rooms with advance reservations. Sorry we do not allow guests who are participating in a group retreat to bring along their pets. Please enquire before bringing your pet as arrangements must be made at the time of booking. A fee will apply and will be added to your bill.
The Jensen family lives on the resort and each have our own pets in our residences! Kristi and David have a little Lhasa Apso and live in their home at the opposite end of the property during summer months. Inga and Jamie have a friendly black Lab and border collie at their home near the entrance to the inn. Both are very friendly and are contained with invisible fencing. You may not even notice these dogs as we have lots of privacy and space on our 60 acres.
Certain rooms are pet friendly. Fee $50 per pet. Must enquire first as only a few pets are allowed at a time. We have rules for pets, please enquire. They may not be left in a room unattended. Must be crated. If they bark or create a disturbance you will be asked to leave without refund. You are also responsible for all and any damage to the room created by the dog. Dog must be kept on a leash at all times, you must pick up after the dog.
Not allowed in public areas such as beach, pool, hot tub, picnic areas. Must have proof of vacinations and flea control. If they have an "accident" you will be charged for carpet shampoo clean up of room. Please keep pets of furniture, bring a bed and blanket.

Resort Service Fee for Groups
Westwind Inn on the Lake is a Resort Hotel specializing in all-inclusive vacation packages. We do not operate the same as a restaurant. Our dining room is closed for most of the day due to the remote location and lack of diners. Unfortunately, the dining room is at best a break even operation.
Our main focus is renting accommodation and we include a meal package with 3 course dinner and full hot country breakfast in the rate. The dining room is open for a brief time for these meals and is closed in between. We do not take outside guests for breakfast and dinner is 95% in-house guests on the meal package. Overnight guests pay for their package on arrival at the inn. Consequently, there is no money changing hands in the dining room except from outside guests at dining by reservation. Extra charges for overnight guests such as alcohol and other resort charges are charged to the guest room.
Due to this short time of operation, we do not hire trained waitresses, waiters, bar tender at the minimum server’s wage. Instead, we hire housekeepers, office reservation clerks and kitchen help who are willing to serve meals either before or after their regular duties in order to give them more hours and more pay. When in the dining room they receive the same rate of pay as their regular shift. We do not reduce it to server’s wage. Also, at the end of the busy summer season staff bonus’ are paid out to all staff based on merit, attendance and hours worked.
Our guest package includes free use of canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, water bikes, rowboats, bikes, golf putting green, driving net, swimming pool, hot tub. In winter cross country skis, skates, snowshoes. skating rink on the lake. All on 65 acres of trails and a quarter mile of waterfront. The rates charged for our accommodations and meals must be competitive with other business’ in the area therefore the additional cost of providing resort amenities cannot be built in to basic rates. For groups we add a resort fee to our rates to recover a portion these extra costs.
Instead of charging for all of the above we have a Group Resort Service Fee on the entire accommodation/meal package and 15% on extra charges in the dining room and other resort charges and for outside dining guests.
We know that it is customary to tip a server at a restaurant. But we feel that, because resorts are operated very differently, different policies must apply.
Tipping is not expected. Your experience is enhanced by the many unique aspects of a resort...the lake views, gardens, antiques, collectables, artwork and relaxed casual lodge atmosphere. All staff here are responsible for and contribute to assuring you have a special experience (especially the kitchen staff) and we feel they all equally deserve our appreciation.
Smoking is permitted outdoors in designated smoking areas. All guest rooms & balconies and all other indoor area's, common areas such as pool, hot tub, decks, beach are non smoking. Please check with the front desk for designated smoking locations closest to your room.
· Note: For groups additional outdoor smoking areas can be provided by request.
Taxes, fee's and extra charges
All rates are subject to 10% Resort Service Fee, 15% on all extra charges and dining if not on the meal package & 13% HST
All GROUP bookings are subject to a 15% group resort facility administration fee.
No tipping required.
If you feel you had extra exceptional service please feel free to reward a specific staff member or all our staff & leave a gratuity at front desk where we can distribute it fairly. Tips left in room or on dining tables may not be distributed equally.

What to bring
We provide all towels for indoor use, linens & blankets. Bring along your toiletries, beach towel, bathing suit, walking shoes, sun screen, water bottle and maybe some bug repellent.
The inn has a side entrance which can be accessed via a ramp & parking within 30 feet. Please let us know if you require parking in this area as it is reserved for these special occasions. Our dining room, lobby, spa area & many bedrooms are located on this main level as well. Select rooms have wider doors & grab bars installed in the tub and there is a standing walk-in shower available in our spa area on this level as well. As a country location we do not have paved roads, but we are happy to help you as much as wea can in order to enjoy all areas of the inn. Please inform us if you have mobility issues when reserving so we do not assign a room on the upper level level as there are stairs.
Our Boathouse lounge is located below our dining room. This is accessed by stairs either from outdoors or the dining room. We have hosted countless weddings with a key member of the family in a wheel chair. Our staff & guests were always very helpful in getting the individual up and down the stairs safely.
